There is something melancholy yet magnificent about a broccoli patch past its prime.

I didn’t plant those flowers in the foreground. But the corn and broccoli I planted as seeds.

Heirloom tomatoes are on the right. I was told by a gardening friend to pinch the lower leaves from the stems and transplant the starts up to a foot deep in the dirt. That worked well.

I found a discarded garden gate and turned it into a cucumber trellis. The cucumber vines decided to use the old broccoli plants as a trellis too. I’m ok with that.

Now I’m eating lots of cukes. They are huge.

That’s a Habanero pepper plant back in the corner. They have begun to appear.

Beets in weeds. When I find the time I will cook them and perhaps puree them (the beets, not the weeds). They are lovely rainbow colors, and taste like dirt (in a good way).

Yes, those are corn stalk shadows (top right). The human stalks (lower right) have sprouted roots, apparently.
